My Journey: From Personal Discovery to Global Creations

You might be wondering, "Who is Bianca, really?" Well, I’m a 31-year-old Canadian, happily based right here in London, Ontario. I’m incredibly proud to be a mixed-race, multicultural Canadian, with roots stretching across Italian, Aboriginal, African-American, and Scottish heritage. I like to think of myself as a bit of Canadian history embodied in a person – a beautiful blend of cultures and experiences that shape who I am and what I create. I’m also a queer, cisgendered woman, and I believe it's more important than ever to connect with businesses and individuals who share common lived experiences and ideals rooted in basic human decency and respect for everyone. This is a safe and inclusive space, always. My journey to Bianca La Luna Knits has been an incredibly personal one. For over a decade, I battled unexplained symptoms and chronic pain, a challenging road that finally led to a diagnosis in 2021, during the midst of the pandemic. I live with Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and Sjögren's Syndrome. These auto-immune diseases often play off each other, bringing daily symptoms like chronic pain, chronic fatigue, IBS, dryness, sun sensitivity, skin irritation, brain fog, and sometimes even hair loss. On top of this, I also identify as neurodivergent, having been diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, which significantly impacts how my brain processes information. Despite these challenges, or perhaps because of them, I’ve learned to truly amaze myself with how far I've come. I’ve worked hard at developing tips and tricks to improve my mental and physical capabilities, allowing me to function and create daily. This journey of self-discovery and adaptation fuels my motivation to continuously improve my small business and pursue my personal growth dreams. It's a constant reminder that with passion and perseverance, incredible things are possible.

The Spark that Ignited Bianca La Luna Knits

My love affair with knitting began quite serendipitously. During those early days of dealing with my new diagnoses and the pandemic, I made a simple decision: I bought a set of circular knitting looms. My goal? To make winter hats for myself and do something productive. I'd tried traditional knitting before and, honestly, failed miserably! But the circular loom was a game-changer – incredibly easy to learn. Within months, I was completely addicted, knitting hats for everyone I knew. The therapeutic rhythm of knitting unlocked a long-lost creative side within me. On a whim, I decided to take the leap and started an Etsy shop and an Instagram account to showcase my creations. Before I knew it, I was joining local vendor markets, and my little business, Bianca La Luna Knits, truly took off! Then came another exciting discovery: circular knitting machines. These amazing machines, with their wide range of capabilities, revolutionized my process. They allow me to create items much faster than traditional knitting or looms, while still producing beautiful, professional-quality knits. This opened up a whole new world of possibilities and has truly enabled endless potential for what I can create. Four years later, I'm absolutely thrilled to say that my creations have found homes all around the world – from the USA and Europe to as far away as Australia! Each sale, each happy customer, fuels my passion and makes every stitch worthwhile. Knitting has truly become my therapeutic passion, and sharing what I can create with others brings me an extreme amount of joy. I always gravitate towards using vibrant colors for my creations because they just make me smile! And I want you to know that everything I make is soft and double-layered for extra warmth, comfort, and stretch in the finished product – because quality and coziness are super important to me. I'm also constantly learning new techniques and finding new creations to add to my shop, always with my own personal touch. My dream is to inspire others who are going through similar struggles to keep pushing forward despite everything that is seemingly working against them. You are stronger than you think, and I hope Bianca La Luna Knits can bring a little bit of that strength and joy into your life. Thank you for being here and for supporting my dream. Every time you purchase from Bianca La Luna Knits, you’re not just getting a beautiful, handmade item; you’re also supporting a small business built on resilience, creativity, and a whole lot of love.

What kind of vibrant, cozy creation are you hoping to find next? I'd love to hear from you!
